Background

Western Bee Supplies, Inc. is located in Polson, MT on the southern shore of Flathead Lake. We manufacture and sell premium wood pellets from the sawdust and wood waste from our pine boards. For 40 years we have been a leader in the honey industry, producing bee supplies for beekeepers around the world. About ten years ago, we implemented our plan to put the wood/sawdust waste to good use and started a pellet division. Our pellets are made from clean pine sawdust that we grind up and use in our pellet operation. The pine lumber used in our operation is delivered tarped and at 12% moisture content or less, which ensures that our pellets have no bark or dirt (which develops "clinkers") and allows us to sell our pellets at a lower price, since the drying process is eliminated in our pellet production. We do not import any hog fuel or sawdust from sawmills or pulp mills as other pellet manufacturers do, which means our production levels and prices are not dictated by outside influences.

Marketing Strategy

We approached the pellet industry cautiously-marketing only locally the first three years. We learned our biggest competitors (Lignetics, Atlas and Eureka) all have pellet operations within 200 miles of us. We approached dealers that offered our competitors' pellets and quickly developed a growing market. Meanwhile, we refined our process and product and expanded into eastern Washington, central and eastern Montana and south-eastern Idaho. Many of our dealers chose to market our pellets exclusively and continue to do so today. We joined the National Pellet Manufacturer's Association four years ago to enhance our ability to create quality pellets.

Guarantee

We believe in what we sell and stand behind our product 100%. We package our pellets in attractive 40# bags, and neatly stack them 50 bags/pallet. We "cap" the pallet making the pellets virtually weather-resistant then shrink-wrap the entire pallet so they don't shift during shipment. If, at any time a customer has a problem, we ask that you offer them an exchange-pellet for pellet as replacement or refund their money. We, in turn will replace the product or make good on your refund. We have a long history of making sure our customer is taken care of.
