In our continuing effort to remain environmentally friendly, we went into shavings bale production in late 2004. Our softwood shavings are off boards kiln-dried to 12% moisture or less with no contaminates such as bark or dirt. We compress our shavings to fit a 3.5 cubic foot bag, which when uncompressed will cover a 10-12 square foot area comfortably. Our sealed bales are 12" X 16" X 32" and weigh approx. 45-48 lbs. each. The next time you shop for shavings bales, check their size and listed compressed cubic feet. We've found several on the market that claim to be 3.5 cubic feet compressed yet don't match up using a cubic foot calculator. ((Length X Width X Heigth) / 1728).

We retail our shavings locally (out the door) as well as through distributors. We can stack bales on pallets in 20's (horse trailer size-1000#), 26's (gooseneck/bumper pull flatbed-1400#) or semi-load (39 bales/pallet, 22 pallets/semi, 2000# each). For semi-loads, this works out to 858 bales - possibly more if a flatbed can be used vs. a 53' dry van.
